Yesterday our Year 11 Physics students visited Jetstar Maintenance at Melbourne Airport and were shown around and inside a new Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
This was followed by a visit to the Air Ambulance base at Essendon Airport where students were able to inspect the new HEMS Ambulance Helicopter, inside and out.
The day was made even more special when we meet one of our past students who now works with Jetstar. Farhad was in our Yr 11 Physics class in 2010 and recalled being so inspired on the same excursion that year that he had decided to pursue aerospace as a career. He completed Year 12 at Hallam in 2011, got into Aerospace Engineering at RMIT and now has a brilliant career as an Aerospace Engineer at Jetstar.
It’s incredible how one simple excursion can have such a defining moment in the life of a student. I believe we change lives every day at our school.
