Hallam 2nd XVIII played Melbourne High on Thursday 8th August in a Development Match at Melbourne High School.
In a tightly contested first half, Hallam led at the main change by a solitary point. Hallam dominated the 3rd quarter to lead at the final change by 6 goals.
Final scores were Hallam 13.8.86 defeated Melbourne High 9.7.61
Charlie Gardiner was Hallam’s best player as he consistently used his body strength to his advantage tackling and pressuring the opposition all day. Jake Cowan played a great game across half forward offering us a target and was prepared to run and work hard. Dean Leskie offered plenty of rebound off half back, Jayden Nolan competed well in the ruck and around the ground and Matt Soroczynski was one of our main catalysts in the 3rd quarter. Kris Skosples was also prepared to put his body on the line and win his position in our back half. Xavier Pauli was Hallam’s main goal scorer with 4 goals.
It was great to see Andrew Lawless captain the side in what possibly could be the last school boy game for himself, Nolan, Jed Dexter, Jonathan Daly, Brandon Le and Matt Neve.
